Equity & Inclusion Committee

Mission

The mission of the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA) Equity & Inclusion Committee is to advance initiatives and provide resources that assist the membership in creating an atmosphere of equity, in which the dignity of every person associated with Division III intercollegiate athletic programs is valued.

Purpose

To provide a forum for communication and program development to address ways in which intercollegiate athletics can foster an environment that promotes the equity and dignity of its participants: student-athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and spectators. The NCAA Division III Principles for Conduct of Intercollegiate Athletics, specifically those related to diversity, should be applied to matters that affect the life of those participating in Division III intercollegiate athletics. These principles should also be manifested in the policies that structure our division and the educational programs that inform its members. It is the responsibility of the DIIICA Equity & Inclusion Committee to:

  • Share policies, best practices and other resources that address equity & inclusion in intercollegiate athletics, consistent with the NCAA Division III Principles for Conduct of Intercollegiate Athletics;
  • Review and comment on NCAA legislation addressing equity & inclusion and consider advancing legislation;
  • Educate constituencies about the Principles in Constitution 2.2, 2.3, 2.6 and 2.7;
  • Collaborate with various NCAA committees and professional organizations (e.g. NACWAA, Committee on Women’s Athletics); and,
  • Review grant resources related to equity & inclusion.
